Bengaluru, May 5: In a city-wide push to tackle recurring waterlogging and civic issues ahead of the monsoon, Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar conducted an extensive field inspection across multiple problem-prone areas and issued strict directions for immediate corrective action.

Reviewing stormwater drains, road works, and flood-prone zones, the Commissioner instructed officials from various departments to act without delay and ensure long-term solutions, warning against recurring negligence.

Officials were given one week to complete desilting and address water stagnation, along with beautification measures.

Hebbal: New Pipeline to Ease Flow

Installation of a 600 mm diameter pipeline was ordered to improve rainwater discharge.

Bethel Church Area: Prevent Future Flooding

With metro works ongoing, officials were asked to:

  • Create weep holes in dividers
  • Ensure smooth water flow
  • Clear debris from roads and service lanes

BWSSB Front Area: Crackdown on Waste Dumping

Directions included:

  • Ensure uninterrupted water flow during rains

Public Interest Focus

The inspection highlights a key concern for Bengaluru residents — persistent waterlogging and infrastructure gaps during rains. With multiple agencies involved, the Commissioner stressed inter-department coordination and time-bound execution to prevent flooding, traffic chaos, and safety risks during the upcoming monsoon.

Senior officials from BNCC, Traffic Police, BESCOM, BMRCL, NHAI, BDA, and BWSSB were present during the inspection.
