Uttar Pradesh Youth Caught Allegedly Posing as Disabled Beggar in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A youth from Uttar Pradesh was caught by local residents for allegedly posing as a person with a disability and begging on the streets in Bengaluru.
According to local residents, the man, identified as Mukesh, was seen moving with a bent back, a limp and the support of a walking stick while seeking alms in prominent areas of the city. However, his alleged act was exposed at ITI Layout in Byatarayanapura after residents confronted him.
Residents claimed that Mukesh was able to stand and walk normally after being questioned. They also alleged that an iPhone belonging to a person identified as Neeraj was recovered from him.
Following allegations of mobile phone theft, local residents alerted the Byatarayanapura police. Officials later shifted Mukesh to the shelter for the homeless at Sumanahalli.
The incident has raised concerns among residents that such alleged impersonation could create suspicion towards genuinely disabled persons who depend on public support. Police action, if any, was not immediately known.
