Dr. Umashree inspects the grounds of the Legislators’ Home in Bengaluru.
BENGALURU: A separate health club for women legislators was among the improvements suggested by Karnataka Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Umashree during an inspection of the Legislators’ Home in Bengaluru on Thursday.
Umashree, who also chairs the Council’s Accommodation Committee, asked officials to examine the feasibility of the facility while ensuring that existing health services and amenities meet legislators’ needs.
The inspection followed a committee meeting at the complex’s conference hall. Accompanied by committee members and officials, she visited the health club, library, treatment facilities, residential areas and grounds.
Medical services and sanitation in focus
Umashree directed officials to improve the Panchakarma treatment centre and ensure quality service at the legislators’ clinic. She also called for a toilet facility in the library and measures to encourage more legislators to use the reading room.
Cleanliness of rooms, corridors and conference halls should receive priority, she said. Drinking water, electricity and furniture must be adequately maintained, while the residential complex should offer a peaceful environment for its occupants.
During her inspection of the grounds, she asked officials to keep the fountain and garden clean. She also visited Samrudhi Hotel, where she examined the kitchen and storage room and stressed the need to maintain drinking-water and toilet facilities.
Umashree instructed secretariat staff, medical personnel and security staff to remain ready for duty and attend to legislators’ requirements.
Accommodation Committee member B.G. Patil, Legislators’ Home jurisdictional officer C.T. Roopa and other officials and employees were present.
