They used a Honda City for deliveries
BENGALURU:
Amidst the ongoing lockdown, two persons who were selling Indian and foreign-made cigarettes and other tobacco products online were nabbed by the Central Crime Branch(CCB) on Wednesday.
Taking advantage of the Covid-19 situation and the lockdown, they were selling tobacco products online at high prices. The duo are Akthkar Mirza(28), a resident of Richmond Town, and Tasbuddin Mohiuddin (32) from Langford Town in Bengaluru.
The duo had started an online delivery service named ‘Moonlight Deliveries’ and posted advertisements on social media platforms stating that they would deliver tobacco products at the doorstep. They had even posted photos of Indian and foreign-made cigarette packets along with pan masala products with a price list, and had given a contact mobile number (9663999361).
The CCB police tracked them to near Ganesh Temple on Kasturba Road and caught them red-handed.
The CCB and Organised Crime Wing police have seized a Honda City car used by them to deliver the products, bearing registration number MH-02-AQ-3357. The cops also seized 450 packets of cigarettes worth Rs 30,000. A case has been filed at the Cubbon Park police station under the COTPA Act.
