Bengaluru: A massive tree collapsed near the residence of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru, on Sunday, raising fresh concerns about the city’s aging and dry trees.
The fallen tree caused significant damage to a parked electric vehicle, which was completely crushed under the weight. BBMP personnel swiftly arrived on the scene and began clearing the debris.
This incident comes close on the heels of a recent fatal tree fall in the city, which had sparked outrage over the civic body’s failure to identify and clear dry and brittle branches. Despite repeated incidents, no significant action has been taken to inspect and prune vulnerable trees across the city.

Residents and civic activists have repeatedly pointed out the dangers posed by dry branches, especially during the monsoon. The fallen tree in this case appeared to be in poor health, with dry limbs clearly visible.
Authorities have yet to confirm if any injuries occurred in this incident. Meanwhile, public voices are growing louder for BBMP to act proactively to prevent further mishaps caused by neglected urban greenery.
