Ramanagara: A deadly road accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway near Jayapura Gate flyover in Ramanagara Taluk, claiming three lives and leaving one person critically injured.
The incident took place when a Maruti Swift car, reportedly travelling at high speed, rammed into the highway median, losing control due to driver fatigue and overspeeding. The vehicle was heading back to Bengaluru after dropping children at a relative’s house in KR Pete, according to preliminary reports.
Those killed in the crash were identified as Tammanagowda (son of Mutturaj), Mutturaj, and Sachin, the driver. Another occupant, Sanju, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru.
Sanju and Tammanagowda had travelled to KR Pete to drop children at their grandmother’s residence. The accident occurred around 4 am, when they were returning to Bengaluru. Police suspect driver drowsiness coupled with overspeeding led to the crash. The car was completely mangled from the impact.
Ramnagar traffic police visited the scene, shifted the deceased to the district hospital for postmortem, and have registered a case. The accident has triggered widespread grief in the victims’ families, who are reeling from the sudden tragedy.
Authorities have once again urged drivers to exercise caution, especially during early morning hours, to prevent such fatal accidents.
