BENGALURU:
South Western Railway has done itself proud by not just ferrying lakhs of homeward-bound migrants from Karnataka, its workshops have started manufacturing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits for SWR medical and healthcare staff.
Starting from April 21, its workshops at Hubballi and Mysuru have turned out 2,252 coveralls meeting the criteria of the Central Ministry of health and Family Welfare.
Each of the workshops has been given a target of 8,400 coveralls over the next 2 months.
SWR’s PRO E Vijaya said, “These coveralls will go a long way in equipping doctors treating Covid-19 victims at the Divisional Railway Hospital, Bengaluru, which has 50 beds and 6 ICU beds and is now an exclusive Covid hospital. Similarly, the coveralls will benefit doctors at the Divisional Railway Hospital, Mysuru, which has 74 beds, and the Central Hospital, Hubballi, with 30 beds earmarked for Covid-19 victims.”
