Stern action against those who hinder disposal of Covid victims’ bodies: Minister
BELAGAVI:
Despite the government’s appeals to people to treat Covid victims’ bodies with dignity, a senior citizen’s body had to be taken on a bicvcle to a burial ground in MK Hubli village after locals refused to co-operate.
On Monday, Water Resources Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi expressed displeasure over the incident. He told the Belagavi DC and DHO to take strict action against anyone, including citizens and officials, who creates hurdles in the dignified disposal of Covid victims’ bodies.
He also instructed the district authorities to set up a helpline to ensure such problems do not recur.
