Bengaluru, May 29: South Western Railway (SWR) has announced an increase in the frequency of Train No. 06577/06578 Yesvantpur–Vijayapura–Yesvantpur Express Special following approval from the Railway Board.

The special train, which was earlier operating on a weekly basis, will now run twice a week with effect from June 1, 2026. The train will continue to operate with the existing stoppages, timings and composition.

According to SWR, Train No. 06577 Yesvantpur–Vijayapura Bi-Weekly Express Special will run every Monday and Saturday from June 1 to June 29, 2026. In the return direction, Train No. 06578 Vijayapura–Yesvantpur Bi-Weekly Express Special will operate every Tuesday and Sunday from June 2 to June 30, 2026.

Train No. 06577 will depart from Yesvantpur at 6.15 pm and reach Vijayapura at 5.15 am the following day. On the return journey, Train No. 06578 will leave Vijayapura at 5.00 pm and arrive at Yesvantpur at 4.10 am the next day.

The train will continue to halt at Tumakuru, Arsikere, Davangere, SMM Haveri, Gadag Bypass, Badami, Bagalkot, Almatti and Basavana Bagewadi Road stations in both directions.

Railway officials said the increase in frequency has been introduced to meet growing passenger demand and provide additional travel convenience for commuters travelling between Bengaluru and north Karnataka regions.

The enhanced service is expected to benefit passengers travelling for business, education, tourism and other purposes by offering greater flexibility and improved connectivity between the two cities.
