Bengaluru/Doha, May 29: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), under the aegis of the Indian Cultural Centre and the Embassy of India in Doha, successfully organised a Mega Blood Donation Camp at the Qatar National Blood Donation Center in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) under the theme “Everyone Could Be a Hero.”

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian expatriate community and was attended by several dignitaries, community leaders and healthcare officials.

The programme was graced by Eish Singhal, First Secretary at the Embassy of India, Doha, and Sadika Al Mahmoudi, Medical Manager and Head of Donor Recruitment at Hamad Medical Corporation, as chief guests. The event commenced with a welcome address by KSQ General Secretary Sujith Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, Eish Singhal highlighted the importance of regular blood donation and community participation in saving lives. He commended the efforts of Karnataka Sangha Qatar in promoting humanitarian initiatives and encouraging voluntary blood donation among the expatriate community.

KSQ President Subramanya Hebbagelu reiterated the organisation’s commitment to social service and community welfare activities. He noted that blood donation campaigns remain one of the most impactful ways to support public healthcare systems and save lives.

Sadika Al Mahmoudi emphasised the growing need to maintain adequate blood reserves across hospitals in Qatar and expressed appreciation for the continued support extended by the Indian community towards Hamad Medical Corporation’s blood donation initiatives.

The event also featured an awareness session by Dr. Amit Varma, who spoke about the medical significance of blood donation and its health benefits. He encouraged members of the community to participate regularly in blood donation drives and contribute to life-saving healthcare efforts.

A special recognition ceremony was organised during the event to honour veteran blood donors Dr. Sanjay Kudari, Shreedhar Nayak and Mohammad Sohail for their outstanding contribution of donating blood more than 25 times.

The blood donation camp received an overwhelming response, with a large number of volunteers coming forward to donate blood and support HMC’s efforts to maintain critical blood reserves for patients across Qatar.

On the sidelines of the programme, Karnataka Sangha Qatar officially unveiled the poster for Sambhrama 2026, a grand musical evening featuring renowned playback singer Rajesh Krishnan and his troupe. The event is scheduled to be held on June 12, 2026, at the DPS MIS Auditorium in Doha.

The programme was hosted by Shubha, while KSQ Vice President Anil Bhasagi delivered the vote of thanks.

Karnataka Sangha Qatar expressed gratitude to all volunteers, donors, supporters, media partners and members of the community whose contributions ensured the success of the initiative.
