25 vials seized; antiviral drug was being sold for Rs 24,000 a vial
Culprits were advertising Remdesivir on social media
BENGALURU:
The North Division police conducted raids at five places and arrested six persons for allegedly selling antiviral drug Remdesivir at inflated prices.
The raids were conducted following a tip-off. The cops have seized 25 vials of the drug. The accused were advertising the availability of Remdesivir on Facebook, Twitter and even on WhatsApp.
Dharmender Kumar Meena, DCP (North), tweeted: “Crackdown on blackmarketing of Remdesivir!! In a major drive against blackmarketing of Remdesivir, total 25 vials seized from 6 offenders in 5 different raids across North Division. Each vial was being sold at price 8 times higher than govt fixed rates.”
Further investigation is going on.We will reach the source of diversion of this drug and take action against whoever is involved.
