Bengaluru: In a shocking incident on the outskirts of Bengaluru, a 26-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife following a heated argument fueled by suspicions of infidelity. The police reported the incident on Saturday.
After committing the gruesome act against his wife, Manasa, the suspect, Shankar, traveled to the nearest police station on his scooter, carrying her severed head, and confessed to the crime.
Authorities arrested Shankar shortly thereafter. The tragic event took place in Heelalige village, near Chandapura in Anekal taluk, late on Friday evening.
According to police, the couple had been married for over five years and had a four-year-old daughter. Both were employed in private firms—Shankar in Koramangala and Manasa in Bommasandra.
During the investigation, Shankar revealed that he had recently discovered what he believed to be his wife’s extramarital affair, which led to a violent quarrel between them. Following this dispute, Manasa had temporarily moved to her mother’s house.
On Friday evening, around 8 PM, she returned home in an attempt to reconcile, citing their daughter as a reason for their discussion. She denied any involvement in an affair, according to a senior police officer.
However, the couple soon found themselves embroiled in another intense argument. In a fit of rage, Shankar grabbed a sickle and beheaded Manasa. He left her body inside their home and proceeded to the police station with her severed head.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Shankar had premeditated the murder, as he had purchased the sickle from a nearby shop prior to the incident.
“We have registered a case of murder and apprehended the accused. Further investigations are ongoing,” the officer stated.
