Bengaluru: M B Patil laid the foundation for a new building for the Minorities Morarji Desai Residential School at Shegunasi in the Babaleshwar Assembly constituency. The project is estimated to cost ₹16 crore.
The new school building is planned with equipped classrooms and residential facilities for students, Patil said.

Seventy-five per cent of admissions at the residential school are reserved for minority students. Students from backward and general categories will also have access, he said, adding that educational opportunities should reach children across communities.
Patil directed officials to complete the work with due attention to quality and have the school ready for students within one year.
He also outlined an intention to upgrade the institution into a pre-university college in the future.
Officials from the departments concerned, local elected representatives and other local leaders attended the foundation ceremony.
