Retired deputy tahsildar’s body was later burnt and abandoned on outskirts; suspects nabbed
BENGALURU:
In a shocking incident, a retired deputy tahsildar was brutally murdered and her body later burnt for the ‘sin’ of asking for the rent from her tenant in Saraswatipuram near VV Puram.
The victim of the ghastly crime has been identified as Rajeshwari (61), a resident of Koramangala 8th Block. She had gone missing since February 3, and her body was recovered from the outskirts of Bidadi.
Trio arrested
The accused, identified as Alim Pasha, Sadiq Pasha and Ashraf Unnisa, have been arrested.
As per the police, on February 3 Rajeshwari visited a property owned by her at Saraswatipuram — a three- storey building whose third-floor tenant Alim Pasha had been staying there for around 2 years.
Alim Pasha had reportedly not paid the rent for more than 9 months ever since the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown.
Her throat was slit
Rajeshwari had gone to collect the rent but Alim Pasha reportedly refused to pay. When Rajeshwari threatened to file a police complaint against him, he dragged her inside the house and slit her throat with a knife.
As per the police, Alim Pasha wanted to surrender but the other accused, Sadiq Pasha and Ashraf Unnisa, directed him to dispose of his landlady’s body by burning it.
Son’s missing complaint
Alarmed over her absence, Rajeshwari’s son Deepak had filed a missing complaint with the VV Puram police. On Friday morning, the police recovered her body from where the accused had abandoned it.
