BENGALURU:

Facing a barrage of criticism by worried parents over the Karnataka government’s plan to reopen schools in July, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar clarified on Wednesday that the opinions of parents would be sought and the government would not act in haste on the issue.

“Opinions from parents and stakeholders are being sought regarding opening of schools in our state. On June 10, 11 & 12 in all schools, parents’ meetings will be held to this effect. So also regarding the way classes should be conducted in schools maintaining social distance,” the minister tweeted. He denied allegations that the government was in league with the private school management lobby.

Recent guidelines of the Centre have asked states to consult parents and  other stakeholders on the issue of opening schools, colleges and other training institutions.
