MLA rolls out red carpet for riot-accused freed on bail
BENGALURU:
Chamarajpet MLA Zameer Ahmed rolled out the red carpet for 126 Padarayanapura riot- accused persons who left Haj Bhavan on Wednesday. They had been granted bail by the HC on May 29.
The MLA made no secret of his support for the accused. He greeted them with a ‘namaste’ and had them ferried back to Padarayanapura in his own National Travels bus from Haj Bhavan at Halle Gudadahalli in Mysore Road.
The police had a tough time controlling the crowd that had gathered at Haj Bhavan in support of the riot-accused. The JJ Nagar ward corporator’s husband Altaf was also present there.
The High Court bench headed by Justice John Miichael Cunha granted conditional bail to all the 126 accused on a personal bond Rs 1 lakh each. They were also ordered to undergo a Covid-19 test.
