Former Congress Mayor summoned in connection with DJ Halli riots
BENGALURU:
A summons issued by the CCB on Thursday to former Congress Mayor R Sampath Raj in connection with the DJ Halli riots may have to wait as he tested Covid-positive on September 14 and got himself admitted to Baptist Hospital in Hebbal. This is the second time the former Mayor is being summoned in connection with the riots.
Sampath Raj’s aide Arun Kumar has already been arrested. Sources said the former Mayor was issued a notice based on his aide’s statement.
Joint Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil said senior officials of the CCB would conduct the interrogation.
‘He is not well’
Earlier, TheBengaluruLive tried reaching Sampath Raj but several calls made to him sent unanswered. His close friend, former corporator Abdul Zakir, said that he was not aware of any notice served to Sampath Raj. He said, “I haven’t spoken and we haven’t met for the last three days, but I was told that he was not feeling well and was feverish.”
