BENGALURU:
The Karnataka government on Friday announced a third relief package of Rs 512 crore for maize farmers and ASHA workers. Around 10 lakh maize farmers will get Rs 5,000 each and ASHA workers will get an incentive of Rs 3,000 each, said Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
“Maize farmers are suffering as they are not getting a proper price. They are getting a Rs 5,000 relief each, which is a Rs 500 crore commitment,” he told reporters..
Of 40,250 ASHA workers, each would get Rs 3,000, adding up to about Rs 12.50 crore.
The first relief package was Rs 1,610 crore for washermen, barbers, auto and taxi drivers, while the second was Rs 162 crore for vegetable/ fruit growers and weavers in powerlooms.
