New Delhi:
The first Isolation Coach prototype by the railways is ready at the New Delhi station siding.
Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal tweeted: “Preparing to Combat Coronavirus: In a novel initiative, Railways has converted train coaches into isolation wards for COVID-19 patients”
“Now, Railways will offer clean, sanitised & hygienic surroundings for the patients to comfortably recover,” tweet reads.
Its salient features are:
# Conversion of two toilets into a bathroom with proper flooring, a hand shower, a bucket and a mug.
# Removal of the middle berth and plugging the lower portion of the compartment with plywood.
# Partition of the aisle side for isolation of the compartment.
# 4 bottle holders in each compartment.
# A 220 V electrical point in each compartment for medical instruments.
# Air plastic curtains in each compartment.
# 10 isolation wards in each coach.
# Provision of 415 Volt supply externally.
