BENGALURU:

The magisterial probe ordered by the government into the DJ Halli and KG Halli riots will start from September 2. The riots had occurred on the night of August 11.

A team led by Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Shivamurthy visited the DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations and collected preliminary information on Thursday. “A full-time investigation of the case will begin from September 2,” he said.

Speaking to the media, Shivamurthy said, “The government has given a  three -month deadline for the magistrate’s report. A magisterial inquiry is similar to a judicial inquiry.  The National Human Rights Commission’s (NHRC) guidelines will be followed while conducting the investigation.”

A total of 388 persons have been arrested so far in connection with the riots.  55 FIRs have been registered in the DJ Halli and 16 FIRs in the KG Halli police stations.
