The expanded and renovated Rail Museum at Mysuru was opened by a long-serving employee of the museum, H Ashwathanarayana, on Saturday.
The Maharani’s Pavilion housing the vintage saloon of the ex-royal family of Mysuru, a rich collection of photographs and a working model of a steam engine were inaugurated by another veteran staffer, G Mala.
The General Manager took a joyride in the toy train along with officials and children of railway officers.
The museum’s new facilities include better amenities, interactive components, new indoor galleries, an amphitheatre and a reference library. It is handicapped-friendly and has a spacious parking area.
