Bengaluru, September 22: Reds United FC won the second edition of the Liberation Cup football tournament, with Lamasia FC finishing runners-up in the 17-team knockout competition held in Bengaluru on September 19.
The tournament, organised by SIO Kerala Bengaluru City, took place at Sports Web – BCFC on Hennur-Bagalur Road, according to a media release from the organisers.
Reds United FC received the winners’ trophy and a cash prize of ₹20,000. Lamasia FC received the runners-up trophy and a cash award.
Karthik, Dewa and Shikku take individual honours
Karthik of Reds United FC was named Best Player, while Dewa of Lamasia FC won the Top Scorer award. Reds United FC’s Shikku was adjudged Best Goalkeeper.
Shameer Muhammed, President of JIH, Kerala Bangalore City, inaugurated the tournament, which brought together football teams from Bengaluru.
SIO Kerala Bengaluru City President Fahad, Secretary Anshad, Programme Convenor Farzan Ummer, Basith and Anees presented the cash awards and trophies.
Fahad, Anshad, Basith, Farzan, Farhan Shameer, Nehan, Abdu Subhan, Luthuf Rahman and Asif led the organisation of the event.
