On flip side, Bengaluru’s daily Covid cases come down to 7,494

Though daily Covid cases have fallen in Bengaluru, the tech city reported its highest toll of 362 deaths while Karnataka also reported the highest-ever 626 deaths in a single day.

The positivity rate for the day stood at 20.76%, while the case fatality rate for the day was 2.40%.

As per the Health Department, the deaths listed in its bulletin are from a fortnight ago but sources say that many private hospitals are not reporting the number of deaths in real time.

On Sunday, Bengaluru Rural reported 30 deaths, Mysuru reported 22 deaths, Ballari 18, Uttara Kannada 17, Haveri 15, and Belagavi, Mandya, Shivamogga and Tumakuru 13 each. The state’s cumulative death toll is now 21, 837.

Karnataka on Sunday registered 25,979 new coronavirus cases. As per the health bulletin, active cases in the state stand at 4,72,986. Bengaluru Urban’s single-day tally came down to 7,494 new cases.

The state recorded 35,573 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 19,26,615.

So far, Karnataka has seen 24,24,904 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

As many as 1,20,49,483 people have received vaccinations so far.
