Bengaluru: Pollution Control Board officials have been directed to act against those polluting water bodies after Ramalinga Reddy inspected five lakes in Anekal taluk and flagged pollution levels that he said threatened local ecosystems.
The inspection covered Chandapura, Muthanallur, Hennagara, Heelalige and Ramakrishnapura lakes. Reddy said he had instructed officials to take uncompromising action against polluters.
“No illegal effluents or untreated waste will be tolerated,” Reddy said in his account of the inspection, placing enforcement against pollution sources at the centre of his response.
Illegal effluents and untreated waste in focus
Reddy described the pollution levels he noticed during the visit as concerning and said they posed a threat to local ecosystems. His direction to Pollution Control Board officials covers those responsible for polluting the water bodies.
The update does not identify particular establishments or provide lake-wise water-quality readings. It also does not detail notices, penalties or completed action against individual polluters.
The announced development is an instruction to take action following the five-lake inspection; the statement does not set out an enforcement deadline.
