Gowda will continue as Bescom MD till further orders

The Bangalore Development Authority has got a new Commissioner in MB Rajesh Gowda, as per a DPAR order issued on Friday. Gowda’s predecessor HR Mahadev retired on Friday.
Rajesh Gowda (51) has worked earlier in BDA as Land Acquisition Officer while he was in the Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS).
Gowda entered the IAS under the promotional quota in 2018 and was among 34 KAS officers whose names were approved for the IAS by the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. He was appointed Bescom MD on September 6, 2019 and will continue in the post till further orders from the government.
Several hats
Prior to his promotion to the IAS, Gowda served as Assistant Commissioner, Doddaballapura Sub-Division (July 2, 2007 to July 7, 2008), Land Acquisition Officer, Bangalore Development Authority, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bangalore Rural District (September 19, 2011 to August 26, 2013), Managing Director, Karnataka State Warehousing Corporation (September 6, 2013 to June 24, 2016), Secretary, Karnataka Housing Board (July 6, 2016 to October 4, 2017), and Director, Department of Agricultural Marketing and Managing Director, Karnataka State Agricultural Marketing Board (October 4, 2017 to September 6, 2019).
Gowda has done his BE in Civil Engineering from Dayanand Sagar College, Bengaluru.
