RPF teams conduct raids across Bengaluru, arrest 10, seize tickets & devices worth Rs 7.70 lakh

The Railway Protection Force on Tuesday conducted massive simultaneous raids across Bengaluru division of South Western Railway to crack down on offenders who procure and sell e-tickets illegally to rail commuters.
The raids were carried out in Bengaluru city and suburbs by 5 teams of 4 RPF personnel each. The cyber cell as well as the local intelligence network of the RPF provided information on the location of the suspects.
A total of 10 raids were conducted and 10 persons were arrested from places like Kengeri, Chickpet, Magadi Road, Taverekere, Ramanagara and Rama Murthy Nagar. Tickets and devices valued at Rs 7,70, 833 were seized.
The analysis of the devices led to the identification of 27 IRCTC personal IDs which were being misused to extort premiums from passengers in the name of fast and assured booking of railway tickets.
Cases have been registered under section 143 of the Railways Act. The RPF teams were led by Inspectors Vasheem Ahmad, Akhilesh Tiwari, Umesh Dhakar and Rakesh Maurya.
