Bengaluru, June 8: A swift response by Wilson Garden Police, aided by the timely deployment of a private water tanker, helped avert a major fire disaster at a transport godown in Sudhama Nagar, saving property worth nearly ₹1 crore.

According to Bengaluru City Police, the incident occurred at around 4.30 pm on June 5 when a member of the public noticed a fire at the A-1 Express Transport Godown in Sudhama Nagar and immediately alerted the Namma 112 emergency helpline.

Upon receiving the alert, Namma 112 personnel informed Hoysala patrol teams attached to Wilson Garden Police Station.

Police personnel, including ASIs Srikantaiah and Altaf Hussain Dakhani along with PC Nagappa, rushed to the spot and found the blaze spreading rapidly inside the godown.

Recognising the urgency of the situation, the Hoysala team quickly arranged a private water tanker and began firefighting efforts even before the arrival of Fire and Emergency Services personnel.

The immediate intervention helped contain the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby structures and vehicles.

Police personnel also coordinated the removal of cars and motorcycles parked near the godown that were at risk of catching fire.

Their prompt action significantly reduced the possibility of further damage and ensured public safety in the area.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel later arrived at the scene and completely extinguished the blaze.

Authorities confirmed that no loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident.

Police estimated that goods valued at approximately ₹1 crore were successfully saved from destruction due to the combined efforts of the Hoysala patrol teams and fire department personnel.

Bengaluru Police said the incident highlights the preparedness, teamwork and rapid decision-making of frontline personnel.

Officials noted that the decision to deploy a private water tanker before the arrival of fire engines proved crucial in controlling the situation during the initial stages of the fire.

The department said the coordinated response prevented substantial property loss and demonstrated the effectiveness of emergency response systems operating in the city.
