Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke to several opposition party leaders across the country on Covid-19 related issues, among them former prime minister and JDS leader HD Deve Gowda.

Later, Deve Gowda tweeted: “Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi had called me today to discuss about the #COVID19 situation. Hon’ble PM praised my administrative experience and requested my support. I have assured him of my support in our nation’s fight against the pandemic.”

Deve Gowda welcomed the Prime Minister’s call to all Indians to light diyas, candles, etc. in a show of resolve against the coronavirus.

Prime Minister Modi also called former PM Manmohan Singh, former Presidents Pranab Mukherjee and Pratibha Patil, opposition leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Naveen Patnaik, K Chandrashekar Rao, MK Stalin and Parkash Singh Badal to discuss ways and means of halting the spread of the pandemic.
