Parappana Agrahara Bangalore Central Jail
Bengaluru: Tension prevailed inside Parappana Agrahara Central Prison after jail authorities resorted to a mild lathi charge to disperse inmates following a confrontation in the undertrial prisoners’ barrack.
The incident occurred in Tower 1, Barrack No. 5 of the undertrial section, where inmates allegedly resisted officials during a surprise inspection. According to sources, prisoners had reportedly recorded videos from inside the jail using mobile phones, claiming that such devices had been supplied within the premises.
During the inspection led by Jail Superintendent Karna Kshatri, around 10 mobile phones were recovered from the barrack. When officials attempted to conduct further checks, some inmates allegedly tried to assault jail authorities, prompting staff to use light force to bring the situation under control.
Following the incident, an FIR has been registered against inmates identified as Inak Joy, Oko Orange Patrick, Coril Daniel, and Thomas.
Authorities have initiated further investigation into how mobile phones were accessed inside the high-security prison, while also tightening surveillance to prevent such breaches in the future.
