Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar reaffirmed his complete support to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday, stressing that the Congress government in Karnataka remains united, focused and fully committed to delivering on its promises to the people.

Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said the party had come to power because of the trust reposed by citizens, and that fulfilling their expectations remains the government’s top priority. “The people of this state have placed immense faith in us. It is our responsibility to honour their hopes and aspirations,” he said.

He stated that the government has been functioning exactly as directed by the Congress high command, and both he and the Chief Minister are working in complete coordination. With the Assembly session scheduled to begin on the 8th, Shivakumar said the leadership has already discussed the strategy to counter the Opposition. “We have prepared our approach. We will present a new political response to the Opposition inside the House,” he said.

Rejecting any talk of internal factions, he asserted that Congress has only one group. “There is no separate group for me. There never was. Whether during Krishna’s leadership or today, I have never encouraged factions. Our only group is the Congress group,” he said.

Shivakumar recalled that even when the high command had asked him earlier to wait for a few months regarding leadership decisions, he had not uttered a single word of dissent. “I am very firm about this. We will continue to work together as instructed by the high command,” he said.

He added that both he and the Chief Minister share the responsibility of strengthening every MLA and consolidating the party at all levels. “Our duty is to make every legislator stronger and ensure the party grows across Karnataka,” he said.

Speaking about future plans, Shivakumar noted that the government has already sketched out its roadmap for the December 2028 elections and is determined to retain power. “We are working with a clear objective: to bring the Congress government back on the 2028,” he said.

He concluded by expressing agreement with the Chief Minister’s message at the joint press meet, saying, “Whatever the Chief Minister has stated, I fully endorse it.”
