Bengaluru, September 10: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday launched the One Karnataka Mobility App, bringing services of all four state road transport corporations — KSRTC, NWKRTC, KKRTC and BMTC — onto a single digital platform, as part of a wider package of citizen services, transport, education, agriculture and environmental initiatives unveiled to mark 100 days of the new government.

At the ‘Strong Karnataka Sankalpa’ programme held at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar launched Seva One, the Raita Chaitanya scheme, a CSR portal for schools, free bus passes for school and college students, a revamped transport mobile app, the One Karnataka Mobility App and a scheme for installation of Retrofit Emission Control Devices (RECD).

The Chief Minister also signed orders for a programme to distribute five lakh housing sites to site-less families and for the Sainika Samman scheme.

The One Karnataka Mobility initiative is one of the key digital components of the 100-day package. According to the transport press note released in connection with the launch, the platform has been developed to integrate transport services of Karnataka’s four state road transport corporations — Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) — on a common digital platform.

The Chief Minister launched the revamped mobile application and WhatsApp ticketing facility on September 10 as part of the 100-day programme at Vidhana Soudha. The platform has been designed with a modern, user-friendly interface aimed at providing passengers with a more integrated and convenient travel experience.

The mobile application provides a secure login system for passenger identity verification and allows users to access details of previous bookings and manage transactions.

It also brings passenger grievance handling relating to the four transport corporations onto one platform. Passengers will be able to register complaints, check their status, escalate them where required and track the progress of grievance resolution through the system.

The transport platform is also being positioned as a foundation for a wider digital mobility ecosystem in Karnataka. The transport note states that the One Karnataka Mobility App is intended to create the base for integrating other public transport and mobility services in the future, with the broader objective of strengthening an integrated, accessible and technology-driven public transport system in the state.

A digital monthly bus-pass system is also planned. Once introduced, passengers will be able to book, issue and manage bus passes online, while QR-code-based digital verification is proposed as part of the system.

In another significant passenger-facing feature, WhatsApp ticket booking has been enabled for KSRTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC bus services. Passengers can begin the booking process by sending a message to the WhatsApp number +91 6364940880.

The interactive WhatsApp system then guides the passenger through the reservation process. Users can select the origin, destination and travel date, search available bus services, enter passenger details, review ticket information and complete payment.

Multiple digital payment options are supported, including UPI, credit cards, debit cards and wallets. After successful payment, the booking confirmation and e-ticket are sent to the passenger through WhatsApp and email.

Tickets booked through WhatsApp can also be cancelled using the same WhatsApp number. A passenger can send a message, choose the ‘Ticket Cancellation’ option and enter the PNR number, mobile number and the Transaction Password received at the time of booking to complete the cancellation process.

The mobility launch coincided with the government’s rollout of free bus passes for school and college students, placing public transport access and digital integration among the measures highlighted at the 100-day event.

Alongside the mobility initiatives, Shivakumar launched Seva One, expanding the government’s citizen-service push, and Raita Chaitanya, an initiative focused on farmers. A dedicated CSR portal for schools was also launched as part of the government’s education-related measures.

The Chief Minister also launched the Retrofit Emission Control Device installation programme, adding an emissions-related measure to the package of initiatives unveiled at Vidhana Soudha.

Beyond the launches, Shivakumar signed the order for distribution of five lakh housing sites to site-less families, placing access to residential sites among the government’s major social measures announced during the 100-day programme.

He also signed the order relating to the Sainika Samman scheme during the event.

The package unveiled on Thursday spans digital governance, public transport, student mobility, agriculture, school development, housing and emission control, with the One Karnataka Mobility platform providing a digital integration layer for the state-run bus network and a proposed foundation for bringing more public mobility services together in the future.
