BBMP recruitment drive attracts only 2 MBBS doctors
BENGALURU:
BBMP’s drive to recruit doctors in the fight against Covid-19 has resulted in only 2 MBBS doctors showing up for the walk-in interview on Friday. Of the 180 applicants who were appointed, 75 were for Group D posts and the rest were BDS and AYUSH doctors.
“It was a poor response from allopathic doctors,” said an officer monitoring the recruitment process, suggesting that one reason could be that the recruitments are on a temporary basis for 6 months.
It is also not clear what BBMP’s rationale is in recruiting BDS and AYUSH doctors for Covid-related treatment.
The recruitment drive will resume from July 13 to July 15 at the Sir Puttana Chetty, Town Hall.
As per the BBMP advertisement, the remunerations offered are Rs 45,000 for doctors, Rs 20,000 for nurses, Rs 15,000 for supporting staff and Rs 12,000 for Group D staff.
