Bengaluru: NTT DATA has shared plans to expand its presence in Karnataka, particularly in Mangaluru and Udupi, in talks with Minister for IT, BT and Rural Development Priyank Kharge, the state government said on Monday.
The company, which recently acquired Karnataka-based Niveus Solutions and WinWire, cited the availability of skilled talent as a key advantage of the coastal region.
“Through our Beyond Bengaluru programme, we are building strong regional technology ecosystems by investing in skilling, infrastructure and progressive policies,” Kharge said. “Our focus is on taking investments and opportunities to where the talent is.”
Data centres and cable landing station
The discussions covered Karnataka’s Sustainable Data Centre Policy and possible collaboration across data centres, cloud services and digital infrastructure. The Minister also spoke about the state’s plans to strengthen digital infrastructure, including the proposed Mangaluru cable landing station, and how NTT DATA’s expertise could contribute.
Beyond cloud services
Kharge encouraged the company to look at expanding beyond cloud services into biotechnology, healthcare, life sciences and automotive manufacturing.
He also invited it to partner in supporting the state’s startup ecosystem and highlighted the recently launched Government First programme, which lets startups pilot solutions with government departments.
NTT DATA’s Charlie Li, President and Global Head of Cloud, AI and Security; Ayman Husain, Worldwide Managing Director and VP, Google Business Unit; and Shashir Shetty, Chief Growth Officer, attended along with Secretary Dr N Manjula, KITS Managing Director Dr Avinash Menon Rajendran and KDEM CEO Sanjeev Gupta.
