Bengaluru: Karnataka has made it mandatory for state government employees to live at their duty headquarters, while doctors at taluk hospitals and primary health centres will have to record night attendance through the Kartavya app from November 1.
The night attendance must be marked after 9 pm. The government said the measures are intended to ensure that people can access public services on time.

Leave and prior permission exempt staff from night attendance
Staff on leave and those who have obtained prior permission are exempt from the night attendance requirement. Attendance reports will be reviewed every month.
Disciplinary action for not residing at headquarters
Officers who do not reside at their headquarters will face disciplinary action under civil service rules. The residence requirement applies to state government employees; the announced night attendance requirement specifically covers doctors at taluk hospitals and primary health centres.
