Stores cannot force customers to wear masks: Govt
BENGALURU:
In a bid to counter misconceptions and misinformation about the wearing of masks in the context of the coronavirus outbreak, the state government has clarified that as a rule everyone need not wear a mask.
There have been recent instances of departmental stores, shops and other establishments insisting that people wear masks. To counter such a misinformed trend, the government has stated that no establishment can compel a customer to wear a mask.
According to a health department advisory, only a person with symptoms of cold/cough/fever or any other respiratory problem should wear a mask. Those who are caring for a Covid-19 suspect/confirmed patient or health workers attending to patients with respiratory symptoms should also wear masks.
N95 FOR COVID-19 CARERS
The advisory further says that those who are treating or handling Covid-19 suspects/patients need to wear an N95 mask, while others can wear a triple-layer surgical mask.
