BENGALURU:
To achieve the objectives of the NEP by 2030, the state government will establish 6 research -centred universities, 10 teaching-centred universities and 34 autonomous education institutions in three years, according to Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan, who is also Minister for Higher Education.
Addressing a presser on Monday, Narayan said the NEP task force would submit a draft report in 4-5 days, and create a road map by August 29.
Amendments to laws, administrative reforms and consolidation of resources which are required for the implementation of the NEP would be done in an expeditious manner, the DCM said. He added that the government has set a timeframe of 10 years, termed ‘Target 2030’, to meet its NEP goals.
Narayan said discussions on the NEP would involve all stakeholders, including other political parties.
Those present at the briefing included task force members SV Ranganath, Prof B Thimmegowda, Prof Anurag Behar, Prof Venugopal and Dr Geetha Narayan.
On the occasion, the DCM felicitated Prof MK Sridhar who has been nominated to the UGC and Prof SN Kori who has been appointed vice-chancellor of the central university in Ananthapur.
