Nepal Missing Persons: Bengaluru’s Bowring Hospital Named DNA Collection Centre for Karnataka Families
Bengaluru, September 5: Bengaluru’s Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital has been designated as the nodal centre for collecting DNA samples to help identify missing persons from Karnataka in Nepal and, where required, facilitate the repatriation of their mortal remains, Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao said.
First-degree relatives of missing persons — their father, mother, son or daughter — can provide DNA samples after verification of their identity and relationship with the missing person.
Relatives visiting the hospital for DNA sample collection must bring one recent passport-size photograph, a government-issued identity document such as Aadhaar, and other relevant documents required to establish their identity and relationship with the missing person.
Dr Nagesh Kuppast, Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, has been named a nodal officer for the process. He can be contacted on 9742707500.
