Fatality rate of 2.27 per cent higher than state average

MYSURU:

The dreaded coronavirus’s darkest shadow in the state may be over Bengaluru, but Mysuru is not far behind.  In terms of casualties, it is the second district in Karnataka after the state capital to cross the 500 mark, with 5 patients succumbing on Sunday for a toll of 503. The district’s fatality rate is now 2.27 per cent,  higher than the state average.

Part of the reason for the high fatality rate in Mysuru is that patients are being admitted at a late stage and patients from neighbouring districts too are being admitted to Mysuru hospitals.

Sunday saw 686 new infections in Mysuru, with the total case tally now 22,080. The day saw 435 discharges, and a total of 14,499 patients have been discharged so far.

According to the district administration, 396 of those infected on Sunday were primary contacts, 114 were ILI and 29 were SARI cases, and 147 were travellers.
