Mother sells 5-day-old baby for Rs 5,000

In a sordid incident, a woman sold her 5-day-old son for Rs 5,000 in Honnali taluk of Davanagere.
The woman gave birth to a boy on May 20 at the Government Hospital in Hirekeruru village. She then sold her 5-day-old baby for Rs 5,000 to DS Annesh Nayak and P Lavanya in front of the KSRTC bus station in Honnali.
The police have arrested staff nurse Kumar, D Group employee Mahesh and lab technician Basavaraj Kumkamik of Hirekare Government Hospital, as also Annesh Nayak and Lavanya.
The child development officer of Honnali taluk, Mahantaswamy Poojar, filed a case at the Honnali police station. On the directions of Superintendent of Police Hanumantaraya, the Channagiri sub-division police led by Inspector Prashant G Munnoli and Sub Inspectors TV Devaraj and TN Thippeswamy arrested the accused.
