BENGALURU:
Karnataka ministers seem to contradicting each other, with Health Minister Sriramulu hinting at another lockdown in the state and Revenue Minister R Ashoka saying another lockdown can happen only with the Centre’s concurrence.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Ashoka said the state government’s implementation of Covid guidelines was being monitored and guided by the Centre, and a panel of experts in the state was coordinating these efforts. He stressed that another lockdown would not happen without directions to the effect from the Centre.
Referring to the sealing of some areas in Bengaluru, Ashoka said such action was necessary if the infections did not decrease. “People’s health is important to us,” he said. The police department had been ordered to file criminal cases against quarantinees who step out of their homes without their mobiles, he said.
On the other hand, Health Minister B Sriramulu, speaking to reporters at KC General Hospital, hinted that the government was contemplating another lockdown in the state.
