5 more Bengaluru cops infected, taking city tally to 75

BENGALURU::

With 5 city policemen testing positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday, the number of infections in the city police force has risen to 75.

Four policemen from the Marathahalli police station and one constable from the V V Puram police station are the latest to test positive for Covid-19. The primary and secondary contacts of the Marathahalli staffers, including their family members, are in home quarantine, and the station has been sanitized and sealed.

The VV Puram constable had returned from his native Chamarajanagar after 25 days’ leave and tested positive. The station was sanitized, but his colleagues were not quarantined as he had not been in contact with them.

On Monday, the Tilak Nagar and Ulsoor Gate police stations were sealed. The Tilak Nagar police had arrested an alleged chain-snatcher who was from Padarayanapura. The accused tested positive on Monday and five of his primary contacts are now in quarantine.

Meanwhile, the number of infected CCB staffers has risen to 6 after 2 CCB men who were in quarantine tested positive. Among the other cops infected are a head constable of the Ulsoor Gate police station, a constable of the Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police station and a staffer of the Cubbon Park police station.
