M B Patil Holds Singapore Talks With SATS, ST Engineering and Japfa on Karnataka Investment
Bengaluru: Karnataka Industries Minister M B Patil held talks with SATS, ST Engineering, Japfa, Nordic Flow Control and Thakral Corporation in Singapore on Thursday to attract investment into the state’s aerospace, logistics, food processing and manufacturing sectors.
According to details shared by the minister, SATS expressed interest in expanding its existing Bengaluru operations, while Japfa discussed a possible feed mill and food processing facility in Karnataka.
Patil also met representatives of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) as part of the investment outreach.
SATS expansion and training academy discussed
Patil said SATS, already active in cargo handling, cold storage, airport logistics and warehousing in Bengaluru, was interested in expanding capacity. Discussions with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) were already under way, he said.
The company also expressed interest in establishing a training academy in Karnataka to develop skills required for its aviation and logistics activities, he added.
Aerospace and food processing opportunities
Patil said ST Engineering, which operates in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), was interested in establishing a presence in India. The Karnataka delegation outlined the state’s aerospace ecosystem and policies during the meeting, he said.
Japfa, which operates in animal feed and food processing, expressed interest in setting up a feed mill and food processing plant in Karnataka. Suitable locations in the state were discussed, according to the minister.
Manufacturing and drone-sector collaboration
Nordic Flow Control, which works in valves and the marine sector, was invited to visit Karnataka and study its manufacturing and engineering ecosystem, Patil said.
Thakral Corporation, which already has a Bengaluru presence, shared details of its investment in Skylark Drones. The meeting explored further collaboration, and the company conveyed that one of its companies was interested in establishing a manufacturing unit in Karnataka, he said.
Those participating in the respective meetings included Satbir Singh and Satpal Singh of Thakral; Dorcas Teo of Nordic; Billy Thom and Cynthia Lim of Japfa; Bob Chi, Wendy Loh and Yin Fun Thim of SATS; and Kevin Chow of ST Engineering.
Karnataka’s delegation included Industries Principal Secretary Selvakumar and other officials.
