Lawyer Jagadish’s death believed to hit-and-run accident during argument with trucker

BENGALURU: In fresh twist to lawyer Jagadish’s death case, which was initially suspected to be a murder, it is now believed to be a hit-and-run accident during a road rage incident. The body of Jagadish was found in a pool of blood on the NICE Road on Saturday night and the police had registered a case based on a complaint filed by Jagadish’s relative, who suspected foul play.

However, after preliminary investigation, the police have revealed that Jagadish’s death was likely the result of a hit-and-run accident involving a lorry. The investigation revealed that a lorry struck Jagadish’s car, sparking an altercation between him and the driver.

During the argument, Jagadish stepped on to the road without realising the danger and was hit by another lorry that was speeding. The impact caused severe injuries and he succumbed to heavy bleeding in the head.

Police arrest two in Udupi's road rage incident, video goes viral - The Economic TimesThe second lorry driver who was involved in the incident had stopped his vehicle about half a kilometer ahead, but didn’t realisee that he had hit a man. Assuming nothing had happened, as there was no one seen chasing him, he drove away from the palce.

Based on the CCTV footage, the police have taken the lorry driver into custody and are continuing their investigation. The post-mortem report is still awaited, which will likely provide more clarity on the circumstances surrounding Jagadish’s death.
