In a major development, the dreaded coronavirus has infected 10 staff members and 20 patients at Kidwai Memorial Hospital.
As a precautionary measure, the chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery and outpatient departments have been temporarily closed until July 9.
The hospital has a Covid lab which tests more than a thousand people every day. Cancer patients who come to get treatment are examined only they and their attendants are tested for Covid.
”For the next two days, there will be no radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatment. However, emergency treatment will be available 24 hours a day, ” said Dr C Ramachandra, the hospital’s director.
