‘Kharge Playing Siddaramaiah–Shivakumar Fight Like Monkey and Two Cats’: BJP Leader Radhamohan Das Agrawal

Bengaluru, May 21: BJP Karnataka in-charge and national general secretary Radhamohan Das Agrawal on Tuesday alleged that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was trying to create divisions between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for political gains.

Addressing the media at the BJP state office Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru, Agrawal claimed that Kharge was “playing the role of a monkey making two cats fight,” referring to Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar.

‘Three Faces for Chief Minister Post’

Agrawal said there are not two but three aspirants for the Chief Minister’s post in Karnataka.

“Kharge is waiting for an opportunity to become Chief Minister while Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar continue their internal fight,” he alleged.

The BJP leader further claimed that the Congress government in Karnataka was unstable and internally divided.

‘Several Congress MLAs in Contact With BJP’

He asserted that several Congress MLAs were in touch with the BJP and claimed that if Assembly elections were held now, people would vote out the Congress government and bring BJP back to power in Karnataka.

Agrawal accused the state government of pushing Karnataka into financial distress by borrowing excessively and alleged that governance had collapsed over the past several months.

“There has virtually been no government in the state for the last six to seven months. They are busy fighting among themselves,” he alleged.

Vijayendra Will Continue as State BJP President

Responding to questions regarding BJP state leadership, Agrawal strongly defended Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra and clarified that there was no question of immediate change in leadership.

He said: “We already have a full-time state president who is actively working. Whether he continues or not will not be decided in a single meeting.”

He added that evaluation of leaders within the BJP is a continuous process and dismissed speculation regarding leadership uncertainty.

‘BJP Leadership Not a Job’

Agrawal stated that party leadership is not like a conventional job with fixed deadlines or appointment procedures.

“Leadership in BJP is not a job where forms are filled on a fixed date and appointments announced after interviews,” he remarked.

He also said the BJP had contested the Lok Sabha elections under Vijayendra’s leadership and would contest future elections under whichever leadership the party decides.

BJP Targets Congress Government

The BJP leader accused the Congress government in Karnataka of corruption, appeasement politics and failure in implementing guarantees effectively.

He said BJP’s national co-organisation secretary had visited Karnataka to review preparations ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections and asserted that the BJP was preparing aggressively to return to power in the state.
