Bengaluru, July 2: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has requested the Revenue Department to issue necessary directions for the expeditious issuance of caste certificates carrying the Scheduled Caste internal reservation endorsement, in the interest of candidates seeking admission to professional courses such as Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Nursing and other programmes under the internal reservation quota.
KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna has written to Rajendra Kumar Kataria, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue Department, urging immediate intervention to ensure that eligible candidates receive the required certificates without delay.
According to the communication, candidates seeking admission under the Scheduled Caste internal reservation category are required to upload caste certificates carrying the internal reservation endorsement along with the RD number through the online portal by July 8, download the verification slip and thereafter exercise their option entry during the counselling process.
However, KEA has received representations from several candidates stating that they have been unable to obtain the required certificates within the stipulated time due to delays at the issuing authorities’ level.
The Authority has pointed out that timely issuance of these certificates is essential for the smooth conduct of the first round of seat allotment and to ensure that eligible students are not deprived of the benefits of internal reservation.
KEA has requested the Revenue Department to instruct Tahsildars, who are the competent authorities for issuing such certificates, to accord priority to these applications and dispose of them at the earliest.
A copy of the letter has also been forwarded to all Deputy Commissioners across Karnataka, requesting them to facilitate the speedy issuance of internal reservation certificates so that the admission process proceeds without disruption.
