Bengaluru: Candidates seeking Karnataka government jobs through the KEA recruitment process will be able to apply across multiple departments with one application and one fee, while posts requiring similar educational qualifications will be covered by common examinations. Selection will follow a CET-style counselling process based on marks, reservation categories and candidates’ preferences.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority outlined the changes as applications opened on October 30 for 5,431 FDA, SDA and equivalent posts. KEA Executive Director H Prasanna said the authority, recognised as a recruitment agency for 33 departments, would group posts with similar educational qualifications for a common examination.
One application and fee across departments
The arrangement replaces separate applications, fees and examinations for individual departments with a common process for the relevant qualification groups. It does not mean that every one of the 5,431 posts will have an identical examination.
KEA said its software will carry forward details previously submitted by applicants for Village Administrative Officer, Land Surveyor, Agriculture Officer and Assistant Agriculture Officer recruitment into the FDA and SDA application process.
Existing registrants can log in with their username and password, check and correct their details where necessary, pay the required fee and submit the application. New registrants must complete an Aadhaar-authenticated application, the authority said.
Preferences after results, followed by mock allotment
Candidates will enter their department and post preferences after the examination results. Recruitment lists will take account of merit and applicable reservation categories, with allotments based on candidates’ marks and preferences.
A mock allotment will be followed by an opportunity to rearrange preferences. KEA will then issue provisional and final selection lists. Each selected candidate will be allotted only one post.
KEA said this mechanism is intended to reduce situations in which a candidate is selected for several posts, takes one and leaves the others vacant, requiring repeated selection rounds.
Twice-yearly exams under consideration
KEA is also considering conducting examinations twice a year for posts with similar qualification requirements. Under the proposal, recruitment requests received between January and June would be combined into one application and examination process, while requests from the remaining part of the year could be covered by a December examination.
This is a proposal under consideration, rather than a final examination calendar.
