Bengaluru: A tragic incident has shaken the city as Om Prakash (68), a retired Director General of Karnataka State Police, was brutally attacked and killed in his own home. His wife, Pallavi, has been taken into custody by the HSR Layout police station in connection with the murder.

The lifeless body of Om Prakash was discovered at his residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru on Sunday. Pallavi, when questioned about the incident, confessed to the crime, leading to her immediate arrest by the police.

Reports suggest that there had been ongoing conflicts between the couple, with a lack of harmony in their relationship. Pallavi had even sent a distressing message to a WhatsApp group of IPS officers, claiming that her husband was threatening her life with a revolver. Tragically, Om Prakash was found dead around 4:30 pm on Sunday.

Upon discovering Om Prakash’s body, Pallavi had alerted the police, barricading herself and her daughter in a room on the first floor of their home. Despite the police’s arrival, they refused to come out. Meanwhile, Om Prakash was found lying lifeless in a pool of blood.

Senior police officials, including State Director General of Police Alok Mohan, personally visited the crime scene to investigate the incident. Om Prakash’s body has been transferred to St. John’s Hospital near Madiwala for a post-mortem examination.

Om Prakash, originally from Champaran district in Bihar, began his illustrious career as an IPS officer in Karnataka. He served in various capacities, including as the District Superintendent of Police in Shivamogga, Uttara Kannada, and Chikkamagaluru districts.

Om Prakash, a distinguished law enforcement officer, has held various high-ranking positions throughout his career. He has served as the SP of the State Vigilance Cell, the DIG of the Fire Department in the Karnataka Lokayukta, and the IGP of the CID. In March 2015, Om Prakash was appointed as the State Director General of Police, a position he held until his retirement in 2017.

The recent tragic incident involving Om Prakash has left many in shock. Initial investigations suggest that a family dispute may have been the motive behind the murder. Om Prakash and his wife were well-known to neighbors, relatives, and retired police officers. Reports indicate that the dispute had been escalating for several days, with his wife causing disturbances at home. Additionally, it is alleged that Om Prakash had purchased land in his sister’s name, leading to a conflict with her husband over ownership.

Following the incident, Om Prakash’s son has filed a complaint, resulting in the registration of an FIR. Several suspects have been apprehended and are currently undergoing questioning, according to a senior police officer. The investigation into this tragic event continues as authorities work diligently to uncover the truth behind the shocking crime.
