Karnataka to begin jabs for frontline workers in 18-44 group from May 22
Covishield vaccination will be at workplace: Karnataka Health Department

In a relief to frontline workers, the Karnataka government has decided to resume its vaccination drive for identified beneficiaries in the 18-44 years age group from May 22.
The Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department made the announcement on Thursday in its official Twitter account. “Vaccination for the 18-44 years age group is being resumed from 22.5.2021 and state procured vaccines will be utilised to vaccinate the eligible beneficiaries. The state has identified corona frontline warriors who will be receiving vaccination initially,” the tweet reads.
Further, Deputy Commissioners at the district level and the BBMP Chief Commissioner in Bengaluru city will be in charge of vaccinations for this age group.
“Workplace vaccination will be the mode of implementation,” another tweet reads.
Nodal officers for each category will be nominated by DCs/ BBMP Chief Commissioner to facilitate Covid vaccination with Covishield.
Nodal officers will have to issue an eligibility certificate of the category under which the beneficiary will be vaccinated. Producing an eligibility certificate is mandatory to avail of vaccination.
Any valid ID approved by the GoI needs to be produced for registration on the CoWin portal.
The number of such vaccination sites and the number of vaccinations per day will be decided by districts based on availability of vaccines.
After completion of vaccination of the state’s FLWs, other priority groups will be vaccinated.
