Karnataka seeks Rs 4,000 crore in flood relief from Centre

Karnataka seeks Rs 4,000 crore in flood relief from Centre

BENGALURU:

The state government has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release Rs 4,000 crore in flood relief to Karnataka.

Addressing the media after a video conference with the PM on Monday, Revenue Minister R Ashoka and Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the amount was an initial estimate of the flood-related damage to houses, government buildings, roads, bridges and crops in the state.

Ashoka said permanent relief centres would be set up in 10 flood-prone districts and nutritious food, including eggs, vegetables and milk, would be provided to flood victims.

Among the announcements made by the ministers were:

• Immediate release of Rs 395 crore from the SDRF.

• 200 SDRF personnel, four NDRF teams and four defence helicopters have been deployed and an additional 4 NDRF teams have been requested.

•The Geological Survey of India has been requested to establish a forecasting system for land degradation in the Cauveri and Krishna basins.

•The Central Water Commission has been requested to establish a comprehensive flood forecasting system for the Krishna river.

•The National Cyclone Mitigation Relief Project has been requested for release of grants.

•885 villages in 56 taluks have been badly affected in Kodagu, Chikkamagalur, Shimoga, Hassan, Belagavi and Raichur. 3,000 houses, 80,000 hectares of farmland, 3,500 km of roads, 104 small irrigation tanks and 394 buildings have been damaged.

Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj, Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar, Development Commissioner Vandita Sharma and the CM’s secretary Ravikumar were present.

೧. ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಜಲ ಆಯೋಗವು ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಜಲಾನಯನ ಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಪ್ರವಾಹ ಮುನ್ಸೂಚನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಲು ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ವಿಶೇಷ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಯೋಜಿಸಲು ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರವನ್ನು ವಿನಂತಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

4. ರಾಜ್ಯವು 320 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ಕರಾವಳಿ ತೀರಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮುದ್ರ ಸವೆತಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್ ಸೈಕ್ಲೋನ್ ರಿಲೀಫ್ ತಗ್ಗಿಸುವಿಕೆಯ ಯೋಜನೆಯ (ಎನ್‌ಸಿಆರ್‌ಎಂಪಿ) ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಕರಾವಳಿಯಾದ್ಯಂತ ಸಮುದ್ರ ಸವೆತವನ್ನು ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಲು ಜಿಒಐ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಡಿಬಿ ನೆರವಿನ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲು ವಿನಂತಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

6. ಪರಿಹಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿಗಾಗಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಎಸ್‌ಡಿಆರ್‌ಎಂಎಫ್‌ನ ಮುಂದಿನ ಕಂತಿನ ರೂ. 395 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂ. ಗಳನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗಾಗಿ ಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಮಾನ್ಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ವಿನಂತಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
